    Description

Rare first catalogue of the Studio Museum in Harlem titled: "Harlem Artist 69".  This catalogue is from the very first Exhibition Season of various Black artist held at the Studio Museum in Harlem, New York from 22nd July - 7th September 1969.  From the years of its founding in 1968 by activists, philanthropists, and artist, the Studio Museum in Harlem would become a crucial nexus in a network of Black artist, many of whom in the 1960s were not having their work shown in the city’s major museums and galleries.  Because of the support they received early on from others, these artists are now considered some of the most important of their generation - though recognition has often been slow in coming and, in some cases, long overdue.  This is a short catalogue of six
    6” x 9” (15 x 23 cm)
black & white halftone lithographs, featuring works by William Day, Alvin C. Hollingsworth, Leroy Clarke, Leon Meeks, David Scott Brown, Stephen Mayo, John P Osborn, and Charles Earley.  The catalog is in very good vintage condition and as seen in the pics.  It will make an excellent and rare addition to any Harlem Black Art collector.  So don’t let this one get away!
