    Here is an opportunity to acquire a lightly-circulated example of the scarce and desirable 1-yen coin of Japan dated Meiji 3 (1870), Type 1.
    I would grade this coin approximately Extra Fine, with a noticeable number of rim nicks. It has natural grey color and strong eye appeal.
    I am aware that this coin is widely counterfeited, but am confident that this example is genuine. Weight (26.8 grams) and diameter (approximately 38 mm) are correct. It passes the "ring test" and looks and feels right.
