These were issued by R.S. Battles, a prominent Pennsylvania tycoon and banker, and were payable through the Chase National Bank.
He hand signed the checks

Excellent condition with interesting stamps and/or endorsements. Dollar amounts and bearers may vary from scans. Small round or diamond shape cut cancellation with no paper loss and/or a small rubber stamp of a shield with PAID by CHASE NATIONAL BANK on 1890's or oval rubber stamp of other banks, tiny pinholes spelling PAID on 1914-1915. 1890's varieties may have very minor edge wear or minor ink feathering from old fountain pen writing.
