    Description

This is a rare (I know, that term is used on ebay a lot, but in this case, it applies!) sealed cellophane contractors package of two new US M8A1 bayonet knife scabbards made by USGI contractor VIZ. These recently turned up at a US surplus dealer mixed in with other common 1968 dated PWH scabbard packages. VIZ was previously thought to have only supplied 50,000 M8A1 scabbards on a contract in 1969. This contract (DA-11-199-ORD-728) places VIZ as the earliest known USGI contractor for these scabbards after the early Colt production. Previously unknown in the US bayonet/knife collector community.
The cellophane package has a pre-printed A 8-62 date, with an ink stamped date A 3-63, which would be the actual production date. The two scabbards are absolutely new, unused, never touched since leaving VIZ in 1963. Expect verdigris on the brass snaps and tabs. Great piece for the advanced US military knife and bayonet collector. See pictures, this is the exact item you are buying. Do not miss out. Buyer to pay .75 shipping by priority mail. US bids only. Ebay will collect applicable sales tax.
