I still have the very first unit I ordered from my supplier. It was over 4 years ago. I maintained the pads and still have the original pads. The majority of units being sold under are not quality. The modes are inconsistent, low battery life, they break down, etc.
In order to maintain the pads, simply store the pads with the included pad storage and add a drop of water to pads once in a while to keep them moist. Also, return the pads directly to the pad storage after each use and they will last a long time!
